The misinterpretation may lie in a less than precise use of language by
Foucault or those who cite his commentary. To decriminalize does not equal to
focus upon rape as an act of violence rather than a sexual act.

Was Foucault saying no longer make it criminal to rape, or was he saying
desexualize the form of criminalization?
