Back once again to the issue of 'power'. it appears to be one of those
things that we can never quite isolate or pin down. My understanding is
that for Foucault, 'power' is productive. Generally, we are inclined to
perceive of power in negative terms. Foucault believes that power can be
positive and is productive. His interest is in the small processes which
occur in everyday life which disperse 'power' and its control throughout
the system. Thus, having such an arrangemnt, we have what Foucault would
call 'discipline'.
