Re: Zero-tolerance policing


I am from the Northern Territory in Australia and the government here are
hell bent on a path of zero tolerance. At present there is mandatory
sentencing of two weeks in jail if you do any property damage whatsoever no
discussion. This is affecting young people but particularly Aboriginal
people many who live in remote communities - one person was jailed for
stealing a can of beer! This of course is personal interest rather than
academic I don't know of anyone in Australia studying this at present.
