Hi Cameron
I start with a very stupid question, are you a woman or a man? I speak =
spanish, so I really can't imagine if it's a name for a man or for a =
woman.
Your response was wonderfull. Don't worry I'm not a specialist in =
Foucault's archeology. I'm just a student that is making her thesis on =
"le d=E9passement du sujet", I think that Foucault tried to separated =
from structuralism despite he agreed with it in this point. There are a =
lot of problems there, because the phenomenological school and the =
structuralist group are not homogeneous. Foucault was against the idea =
of a phenomenologist conscience , but the Husserl's Krisis and the idea =
of Leben has had influence on Foucault's work. I think that archeology =
is an addition of many influences, that remain in some way. Its is =
impossible to abridge the work that propose the archeology as a method =
in one or two pages. I beleive that the archeology is a response to the =
philosophical tradition. The problem is how to think after Hegel. If =
history and philosophy are over, what can we do? We have to make another =
history? The problem is discontinuity versus the Absolut? Discontinuity =
means nihilism? We think after the Nietzsche's sentence: there is no =
fact only an interpretation. Is this our postmodernism?=20
my thesis is a risk in many ways, I want to defend discontinuity, try to =
enlarge the philosophical horizon of archeology and to demostrate that =
there is no cut between archeology and geneology. I think that Foucault =
didn't abandon archeology, he enlarged the horizon. He abandoned the =
priority of discours, he put it in relation. That's the meaning of =
dispositif (cf. Dit et =E9crits, tomeIII, page 300-1)
My dear friend, I don't know if you are a philosopher or something else, =
I study philosophy, so I put the stress on philosophical problems.=20
I haven't read the book of Dreyfuss and Rabinow, because this is =
Argentina and we follow the european tradition. I'm going to ask my =
professor if he can lend me this book. I've gone to the university =
library this afternoon, but it wasn't there.=20
You live in Brisbane, don't you? So you live near the sea, you are =
really lucky boy or girl. When you look at the sea, the horizon seems to =
be enormous. It's the same efect of philosophy. An enormous horizon for =
mortal eyes.=20
I'm going to keep you posted, keep me posted too. Bye. Thank you.
