manifestoes

I'm not sure why "we" need any manifesto -- if you mean a manifesto
something like the Communist Manifesto, unless you mean to use it to
intervene in a specific political conjuncture, but then, it's hard to know
what purchase such a manifesto would have. Who would such a manifesto be
meant to reach? Other intellectuals? But surely they can read books and
deploy concepts themselves. The "great unwashed"? Sorry, but I think that
in communcating with people outside of the intelligentsia "we" would need to
speak "their" language. Delivering theory from the mount doesn't work for
us mortals.

Surely the point is to use concepts to analyse conjunctures and discourses
in order to intervene in them, not to produce some postmodern version of
histomat and diamat which would form a practical ideology of a new sect, or,
if that sect succeeded in imposing its ideology on others, a new state
ideology.
