of Shadows and Caves

One can also read the shadows in F's writings: the site of sex and sexuality
is the shadow and the light of the thinker is the Idea standing out there
where Sex seeks its fulfillment and virture. In the classic Greek that would
arete. Sorry I don't have the accents. If the arete is the goal, then one
can observe that F. had 'arete', but that he failed to transcend it. An
ethical bind for a man who had a.i.d.s and perhaps also knew it and passed
it on to others. This is discussed at length in The Passion of Michel
Foucault.
