At the risk of being extremely immodest, I would like to add my
forthcoming book to the list of Foucauldian examninations of the
market. The book is entitled, THE "BETTER ANGELS" OF CAPITALISM:
RHETORIC, NARRATIVE, AND MORAL IDENTITY AMONG MEN OF THE AMERICAN UPPER
CLASS, and it will be published by Westview worldwide in January of
1999. There is an entire chapter on the discourse of the market and
homo mercator and how it is enacted and embodied in the rhetorical
performance of moral idendity by rich American white guys.
