The idea of top-down mind control isn't an idea I think one should identify
with Foucault. Your mind is never not "yours" in the sense that no one ever
steals your spirit. But on the other hand it is difficult to maintain a
notion of a mind free from outside influences (or, rather, a mind that is
not always incorporating "external" elements).
