Re: combats with AIDS, and Foucault's personal attitude

Carlos, I suppose I am in a strange position - I don't actually know anyone
with HIV. We simply do not get to see a lot of it in Ireland. But I don't
think that because doctors form a closed shop and like to keep a level above
us to protect their status, power and prestige, they are necessarily wrong
in their diagnosis. And because their are similarities between AIDS and
starvation it does not mean that all who die with the same symptoms
necessarily die of the same thing. The one thing about the Western world is
that we can find ways to challenge what the powers tell us. And out of the
diversity of medical research that takes place, if the AIDS hypothesis was a
myth developed by the rich world, it would be well challenged by now and
doctors would look ridiculous. I don't believe that it is the power of the
medical profession that is sustaining a mere myth
