i just joined the group so, following the instructions, i first say a few
things about myself:
i am a doctoral student in mechanical engineering at columbia university.
i have general interests in history and philosophy, especially of the
natural sciences. i found the concept of 'biopower' useful in elucidating
the history of statistical physics and its relation to other 19th century
sciences. that is how i became interested in foucault originally. i also
studied philosophy at columbia, although during this time i mostly kept
away from genealogical approaches. nowadays i confine myself to general
reading while working on my dissertation.
