I agree with much of what you say. Although I'm not as acquainted with
or as interested in phenomenology as structuralism, I too think that
Foucault's early work is never left behind: rather it is integrated.
You might try James W. Bernauer, _Michel Foucault's Force of Flight_.
The Eribon and Macey biographies may be of *some* help.
