To add to Colin Wight's list of references, Geras's Discourses of Extremity,
Verso 1990 is also useful, it includes articles out of a debate he had with
Laclau and Mouffe in New Left Review, perhaps you're already familiar with
it. Also the work of Roy Bhaskar, who argues for epistemic relativism but
against judgemental relativism, is IMO very useful, such as Philosophy and
the Idea of Freedom, Blackwell 1991 (another critique of Rorty) or Plato
Etc., Verso 1994.
