I am looking at Foucaults version of aesthetic ethics and attempting to
compare and contrast his (I think) more individualist/determinist outlook
with Maffesoli's, where the emphasis is less deterministic, more fluid &
group orientated.
There is a good outline of Foucaults position on aesthetic ethics in the
Rabinow Foucault Reader-I say good because it consists of a set of
interviews with him, and I always find his words better than anybody elses
for explaining what he means! There are two interviews in this book which
you will probably find useful;'On the Genealogy of Ethics' & 'Politics and
Ethics', it was published in 1986 by Penguin.
Hope this helps, Rachel.
