Martin Allor and Michelle Gagnon have used the idea that modern culture is that
of writing the 'histoire du Meme' in order to study Quebec's cultural policies.
Centered on Quebec but usable elsewhere. (also I would'nt be surprised that
Tony Bennett's work on museums and public libraries used it also)
Two titles:
a. L'État de Culture (which is bilingual even though the title is in French)
b. The Cultural Field in Quebec (unedited yet but I have a copy)
