Hello out there,
Before introducing myself to the network, allow me to express my enthusiasm for the content and more than that for the form -kurz und schmerzlos the germans would say- of the comments circulated here. Now, my name is Nikolas Kosmatopoulos, born in Athens, currently working on a PHD at the Sociology and Social Anthropology Department at Central EUropean University in Budapest. My interests include anthropology/sociology of knowledge, expertise, conflict resolution industry, Islam, Palestine issue, governmentality.
In a nutshell, I am planning to apply Bourdieu`s concept of the field together with Foucaldian "discourse" in order to analyze the emerging transnational expert knowledge field on Palestine issue. i am interested in questions about its institutional formation, as well as its discursive impact "on the ground". I chose Cairo and Berlin as my field entry points, because I consider these two cities global nodes in what one could call "Palestine conflictology". Therefore I am about to begin my fieldwork on "conflict experts" in the broadest sense -from social scientists to film-makers- in these two cities initially.
I would be extremely happy to communicate with people ou there sharing same passions, ideas, fields.
Greetings from Budpaest
