CALL FOR PAPERS:
ETHICS AFTER THE HOLOCAUST
University of Oregon
May 6 - 8, 1996
The University of Oregon Philosophy Department, in collaboration with the
University of Oregon Humanities Center, The Carlton Raymond and Wilberta
Ripley Savage Professorship for International Relations and Peace, and
other departments, is sponsoring an international congerence May 6-8,
1996 on "Ethics after the Holocaust," with special reference to the
thought of Emmanuel Levinas and Franz Rosenzweig.
Featured speakers will include: Elie Wiesel, Emil Fackenheim, Deborah
Lipstadt, Raul Hilberg, Stefan Moses, Tina Chanter, and Jacques Derrida
(invited).
We are soliciting proposals (of one to two pages) for papers
approximately 30 minutes in length. Papers may be on any topic related to
ethics after the Holocaust, but special preference will be given to
papers that speak to the work of Levinas and/or Rosenzweig, and the
importance of their work for the conference topic - and our time.
Proposals must be received (not postmarked) by November 3, 1995;
notifications of acceptance will be sent by January 30.
