Another idea: Is it possible to view the idea of citizenship/nationality as
a practice of governmentality? I would argue that it works in a decentral,
localized way to put people into "their" place in a specifically "modern"
power structure. Has anyone any comments or references for that?
Hello Thomas,
may be I can help you at least with one reference for that question:
in the special issue of Economy & Society on governmentality (august
1993), there is an article by Andrew Barry: The European Community
and European government: harmonization, mobility and space. Perhaps
it helps you...
Best wishes
T.
