[Foucault-L] Foucault and Weber

In a recent paper i have written i have, briefly, addressed the points
of similaritis and differences concerning Weber and Foucault on the
social construction of Time. I point out that both recognize the strong
religious element of time imperatives in the West. With Weber, of
course, arguing that it is Protestantism which decress that "the
wasting of time is the first and most serious of the sins" whilst
Foucault is more general and says only that it is 'religious orders'
which were "the first technicians of time and rythmical activies". This
latter quote is paraphrased from D&P and of course the analyis there
differs from Weber in that Foucault goes on to show how time
imperatives manifested in a whole range of social institutions and
actually, in the final analysis, he pays little concrete attention to
the part of religion in all of this.
