Lyn,
I work in the quality department at a call center. We recently purchased a program that records all the calls, records screenshots and otherwise watching our phone agents very carefully.
The role of surveillance within companies is a compelling realm of study. With government surveillance, there seems to be much more resistance. It seems to me that privacy is not a concern in the workplace. I've joked with friends about how panoptic my work is and I've seen its effects. You should see the strange and daring ways the phone agents try to avoid the panoptic eye of our quality department.
As far as management and Foucault, I've felt there is a creepy prescriptive element to Foucault's description of Dispciplinary power, especially when I'm at work meetings. What kind of organizational theories are you studying in regards to Foucault's work?

My name is Lyn and I am currently studying for a Doctorate in Business
Administration in Birmingham UK. I am currently beginning to read around
Foucault and the application of his writing to Management and
Organisation
theory. I am looking forward to participating in the
listserve...........
