Dear Francesca,
With Fouad and Emmanoel I don't think Foucault is the one to look at with respect to Media. From time to time as a reluctant celebrity, he had moments of contention with the media. But there is an interesting confluence in the regimes of truth with respect to Foucault's treatment of mental illness. History of Madness/Madness and Civilization of the early '60s and the courses in Psychiatric Power and Abnormal which happened around the time he wrote Discipline and Punish, have a good bit to say about the formation of truth within a disciplinary society.
I bumped in to an Marshal McLuhan's "Understanding Media" a few days ago. The first paragraph of the first chapter says, "In a culture like ours, long accustomed to splitting and dividing all things as a means of control, it is sometimes a bit of a shock to be reminded that, in operational and practical fact, the medium is the message." These themes of control and discourse are not absent from Foucault's thinking.
